New Nail Polish :)

Hey guys! Sorry that I've been so busy last week. I did have a great time in NJ though. I saw For Colored Girls, and I must say it had my crying and laughing, and all sorts of other emotions . I came back home on Saturday night, and Sunday afternoon I got some great nail polishes. The colors are fabulous, but I'm just waiting for the time to do my nails so I could try them out :) I really can't wait to use the purple one.
I got the May 6ix polishes at a beauty supply store for 30 percent off of everything.
The LA Colors stripers were a dollar each in Dollar Tree ( love these so much!)

You will see nail designs with these colors incorporated in the future.
The tips I like using for my acrylic nails. These are so good because I don't have to cut the bottom half so I could have more space for the acrylic. Do you know how hard it is to find the ones like these in my neighborhood!? I will be going back to that beauty supply store to buy out the entire rack :)

Discovery!

Hey guys! I'm in New Jersey for the week and I just wanted to talk about something that I found out about at breakfast time! Nutella. I've never heard of it before and my aunt introduced it to me by making nutella, avacado, and banana sandwich. I had half and it blew my mind. It could be used as a substitute for peanut butter, as it is made with hazelnuts. It's so sweet I swore it is chocolate. When I return home, I will be buying some and placing it in my fridge pronto.

It Feels So Good To Let It Go

Almost two years ago, my best friend and I had a ridiculous fight and I stopped speaking to her. Recently, she came up to me and apologized and now we are good friends. I just want to say, it feels so good to forgive and forget! When you are mad at someone for something they have done to you, its like carrying a load on your shoulder. Take my advice: let go of the past. It does nothing for you. Every time i saw her, I instantly became mad. I hated seeing her face. That's not a good thing. Guys I urge you, you might get mad at someone one day and they might die the next!! Make up with your friends, because in the end you might need them! I'm glad that she came to me and asked for my forgiveness because the whole situation was honestly stupid. Even if you don't talk to the person ever again, forgive them just for yourself, because it really is not good to hold hate in your heart.

I also think that a part of growing up is learning how to let some things go. Even though a lot of adults still hold onto drama, I think it's a mature decision to let go of the negative. It helps to build character. However, I do have trouble doing it even if its killing' me to hold onto it. Its a bad habit. I especially can't let go of it when the person keeps hurting me and keeps trying to sabotage me. That's when I really can't let it go. But I'm going to pray on it, because Jesus forgives me every time I do something wrong. I should always forgive, because I'm certainly not perfect and I do despicable things.  Imagine if Jesus stopped forgiving me for everything I do and just let me burn in hell?

What I Want..A Man

I want a guy that knows how to spell
Who knows how to make a proper sentence
That doesn't have to curse every other word
That wants to do something with his life
That doesn't wear his jeans bellow his behind
That doesn't make everything about sex
That doesn't think life is about weed
That doesn't have like 10 kids
That is a God fearing person
That doesn't treat people badly just because they
                                                                      don't wear Prada or Jordans,
That aspires to be a real father
That knows how to express himself.

Is that too much to ask?

Journal: Feb 13th- Weekend

Today I woke up early again and decided to get things done. I originally planned on going to the YMCA to work out.. but that didn't happen because I had no bus fair...so I got my homework out of the way..then I cooked! This time I chose another recipe from Ateyya. It was a chili cheese casserole, made from ground beef. First while I was cooking the ground beef, I seasoned it with a mixture of salt, garlic powder, and black pepper. Then I added chopped up onions. When it turned completely brown, I added the chili sauce, with beans, and cooked it down. Then I prepared a pan with a layer of tater tots at the bottom. Then I poured the chili mixture into the pan. I preheated the oven to 375 degrees. After I flattened it out, I added a layer of  shredded mozzarella cheese at the top and popped it in the oven for a little over 20 minutes. And here are the results!
The casserole.

The meal. I had some leftovers from the corn casserole i made last week, and it still tastes slammin
Then later on, to avoid adding any more pounds to my day, I had some mango and grapes. It was worth it. Light but satisfying.

Nail Update

So I did my nails on Friday. I'm not perfect! But I'm getting there.I'm not a pro and alot of people argue that you shouldn't do your nails if you are not a pro because it is bad for nail technician business. However, sometimes ( more like all the time), you just gotta do you....The theme of these nails is marble with white, purple, pink, and a purple tinted silver. Basically to do marble nails you just draw a few lines and use a dotting/marbling tool, or a toothpick or pin if you do'nt have one, to drag across them.On the ring fingers I have underlayed silver glitter just for some pop.&& here are the photos of my work:

This is the left hand, notice the butterfly on the index! :)

This is my right hand. My favorite is the pinky because I wasn't sure what to do, but it came out awesome.
Next design I think will be all glitter nails..If I don't get too bored with it

My Newest Nail Designs

The Teal and Silver used in this nail design is from Kleancolor.
The Silver and Barbie Pink used in this nail design is from Kleancolor as well.

Home sick :( But still Productive

I seem to have caught some sort of cold. But that didn't stop me.I had hominy , which is a Caribbean porridge made of boiled corn. I couldn't really taste it but hey.. And I also I decided to try some recipes on my own because I refuse to just sit around the house and do nothing. Firstly, I created the wonderful corn casserole that I learned how to make from one of my childhood teachers. Here is the link to the basic recipe: Link- All Recipes Dot Com. The only thing I did not use from the recipe is the sour cream, because thats not how I originally learned how to cook it. It came out beautifully.
Then I made sweet and sour chicken inspired by Ateya. Here is both of them on my plate.

Live each day to the fullest, whether you're traveling around the world, or you're laying sick in your bed.

Food Food Food

For the past couple of days, I've been eating some miscellaneous foods. There was almost nothing in my refrigerator... Sometimes you have to make something out of nothing.
On the top:  Baked mashes potatoes with a kind of bread on the bottom and cheese on the top.On the bottom:  half of a small baked potato..Pretty good.

Some of the delicious chili my brother made...and I made a Guyanese cheese and butter Sammich. They taste soooo good combined.

Sometimes the simplest things are enough.

And lastly, Last night I went out to eat with my church family to the famous Gabby's Pizza, who was on Rachel Ray's show, and is recognized for being the best in Queens New York. I had the baked ziti with meatballs on the side...Excellent I tell you! I clobbered that plate like I haven't seen food for a decade.
Heaven
                                           ...Now off to the gym

Why Do We Do The Things We Do?

Why are we so obsessed with how we look
But not with the content of our character
Why do we overlook the poor
When we are all humans and deserve a chance
Why don't we appreciate our loved ones
Until their no longer with us, and six feet under
Why do we procrastinate
And then regret it time after time
Why do we treat each other with disdain
and look the other way when one of us needs help?
Why do we leave the one that treats us right
for the one who couldn't care less about us?

Why? That is the real question

What I Want To Do With My Life

I've been accepted to two out of 8 of the colleges of my choice so far.. I have a long way to go. I've worked really hard in school and I want to go to a school that is on MY LEVEL. But my father has been stressing me to go to a city school because he does not want to pay for me to get a different education. I feel its so unfair. I been busting my butt off in school so that I could get into a  school of my choice, and then you're gonna tell me I can't, when you know you have the money but you just don't wanna spend it? Some bs.
But anyways I want to become an early childhood teacher or elementary school teacher, because I feel that the best time to help to mold the lives of children is when their minds are developing and have fresh ideas. I love kids, and I would like to make a difference in at least one child's life.  I'll never forget my daycare teachers and my 5th and 7th grade teachers because they actually took interest in me. They are the teachers I will remember for my lifetime because they made me want to learn more things. We need more teachers like that. Most of the teachers nowadays don't have a passion for what they do anymore. It's just a job to them. I don't want to be that kind of teacher. I want to set a different example. I want kids to appreciate school, not dread coming to school everyday.

Avon Sonic Boost Mascara

Okay, I just wanted to do some kind of review on this mascara because I'm really enjoying it. My friend gave it to me as a Christmas gift, and I loved it upon the first use. It doesn't give you crazy volume, but I love the lift and lengthening that  it does give. It makes my eyelashes look super bouncy and my eyes look brighter. People came up to me and they said they love my eye makeup and I said I really didn't do anything different from any other day ( besides the mascara ofcourse). I must say at first I wasn't so thrilled about it vibrating, but after I used it my eyelashes looked beautiful.

Can I Breathe?

You shove your ideology straight down my throat
I Can't stand your smile, your face, your voice.
Fake love doesn't get me anywhere
If you died tomorrow I swear I wouldn't care
So tell me why I should even pretend
To cherish the abnoxious time in which we spend
I can't say a word, Oh how I wish to let out a shout
But I patiently wait for the day when I can get out
Until then I'm as quiet as a mouse
Stifled to death in this prison house

Journal: Feb 2nd- Snow Day!

So today I was off from school because there is some potential harm in traveling on ice.
I woke up really this morning thinking " Hmm I have been thinking a lot about cooking lately. Time for breakfast." So I whipped up some pancakes, french toast, and some homemade syrup for my mother and I to share. She taught me before how to make this chunky syrup by boiling together cherries, cranberries,  sugar, and cranberry sauce, and it came out weird looking but yet so appetizing. To top it all off I sprinkled some confectionery sugar on top.   I was very contented. This inspired me to cook now, so I'll be trying some recipes from Yes, Divas Can Cook. I love this blogger I've been looking at her recipes for a while on her blog and on YouTube and she makes me just want to...cook. I want to try her Southern pecan pie recipe...Can you say yum?

So here's my french toast & pancakes  with my chunky fruit 'syrup'. I'm quite satifsied with the results. Delicioso.

For lunch my mom made Pholouri, and if you aren't familiar with what exactly that is, it basically a Caribbean dish made from flour, yeast, split peas powder, and curry.  It is so good. She also made this kind of sauce, made from avocado like guacamole but much more flavorful to act as a dip. The best lunch I have had it a while. Don't you just love good food?

Pholouri

I'm really feeling Kleancolor Nailpolish!!!

They're selling this nail polish everywhere now, and at my neighborhood beauty supply store it's only a dollar.
My favorite colors right now are Wild Rose, Neon Orange, and Pink Lady. I know its wintertime, and the trend is to stick to warm colors..But what the hell, you only live once :) Kleancolor nail polish is so good though. Its cheap but it's long lasting. Ladies go buy some!
You ever find something that you just love to do? I tell you doing nails has got to be that something for me. When I "make it" I'm definitely going to open up a nail business on the side.

By the way here is some of my work.

Journal: Feb.1st : Health

Today was a lovely day. Today in health class we learned about adding years to our lives and it was interesting to me how the health of your grandparents could be used to predict the average years you will live. I learned that I most likely will live to be 82. :) I talked to my mom about this because she has blood pressure issues, and I'm looking forward to becoming healthier with her by my side.

Today I also got this really awesome email from one of my favorite people that I would like to share.

Grow Up and Man Up

Do you think its cool?
to walk around like you own things
like you right up there next to God?
Please.

You think your the man?
How bout you take care of things that are importnant
Like a real man should
How bout you treat women with respect
Like a real man should
How bout you take care of your children
Like a real man should
How bout you own up to your mistakes
Like a real man Should.
Man up, and grow up
Cause you make me wanna throw up
How bout you get up off your ass and make something of yourself
Like a real man would
How bout you stop telling me what you can do for me
and just DO IT

Man up, and Grow up
Before a real man shows up
